Mineralate-Co (Cobalt Amino Acid Chelate):
Cobalt is a dietary essential nutrient in livestock as it is a constituent of Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamine) which is necessary for blood formation.
It has a higher significance in ruminant nutrition as Cobalt is used by the rumen microflora for synthesis of Vitamin B12. Cobalt is also a cofactor in propionate utilization by ruminants. Propionate, derived from fermentation of plant cellulose in the rumen, is the major source of energy in the ruminant.
Cobalt deficiency is rare in simple stomach animals, but common in ruminants.
Cobalt is poorly absorbed and is not stored sufficiently in body. Its absorption from intestine is often hampered by other mineral interactions, bioinhibitors like phytates, tannins, fiber, enzymes, etc.
